I have noticed over many years of consulting that there has been a distinct lack of readily available supply chain insights, techniques, and technology guidance that account for the constraints and nuances unique to process manufacturing operations.  Not only has the information been largely missing, but the advice, techniques, and technology guidance that may be inherently applicable to a discrete manufacturing environment have frequently been completely silent on key differences that come into play when applied to a process manufacturing environment.  I have also seen the effect of this as unwitting stakeholders in process manufacturing operations are steered toward inadequate techniques or ill-fitting technologies and ultimately sub-optimal business outcomes.

About The Author

I have been consulted clients and strategy, operations, and technology for over twenty years and worked for 7 years prior to that, I focused on production/operations management and advanced technology & materials development. 

​

I began consulting because I thrive on seeing improvement for the better – real improvement. Likewise, I have committed myself over my 27+ year career to not simply addressing the topical processes and the outcomes they drive but paying close attention to the minute details that influence those outcomes and determining how to identify, isolate, and fine tune those minute details to drive out-sized results. 


Personally, I have always been at the very least a sort of low-key “geek” such that advanced math, statistics, and many engineering disciplines have come fairly easy to me and I even considered them fun in college and beyond.  While I opted to pursue a business career, counter to my knack for engineering, I’ve always retained that engineering and mathematical curiosity but tempered by real-world and business results pragmatism.  This is what led me here.  Supply chain and planning optimization concepts as applied to process industries are advanced and sensitive, but if applied accurately and properly, they can unlock tremendous value for companies and their employees and equity holders.
